Tokyo Paralympics: PH’s Bejino fails to qualify for men’s 200m medley final

MANILA, Philippines— Gary Bejino of the Philippines  finished last in his heat and  failed to advance to the medal round of the men’s 200-meter medley SM6 of the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games Thursday at Tokyo Aquatics Center.

The 25-year-old clocked  3:17.19 in Heat 2 which was also the slowest time in all three heats.

Only the eight fastest swimmers from the qualifying round advanced to the finals which will be held this afternoon.

Those who qualified for the medal round are Colombia’s Nelson Crispin Corzo, Russian Paralympic Committee’s Andrei Granichka, China’s Jia Hongguang, Mexico’s Raul Gutierrez Bermudez, Brazil’s Talisson Henrique Glock, the United States’ Zack Shattuck, and China’s Wang Jingang.

Bejino will still compete in the men’s 50m butterfly S6 on Monday, August 30.
