TOCHIGI, Japan—Juvic Pagunsan struggled with the day’s worst score of 86 on a high-scoring third round Saturday and fell in the bottom of the  field after three rounds of the ¥150,000,000 ($1.8 million) PGA Championship Nissin Cupnoodles Cup 2012 at the Karasuyamaho Country Club here.

After an opening-round 66 and a 75, the reigning Asian Tour champion wound up with a 227 total that left him  in a two-way tie for 59th among the 62 players who made the halfway cut.

In what could be his worst round since turning pro in 2006, Pagunsan had nines of 40-46. The birdie-less round included a nine on the par-5 17th hole. If it’s any consolation, 12 other players scored in the 80s.

Toru Taniguchi of Japan carded a 76 and kept the lead by two at 211.  Japan Golf Tour
