THE QUARTERFINAL round gets going with University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo vying to preserve their perfect run against separate opponents in the Shakey’s V-League today at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
The Lady Eagles, who swept all four games in the Group A eliminations, take on University of St. La Salle-Bacolod in the second of a three-game bill at 4 p.m.
Also topping Group B with a 4-0 card, the Tigresses battle Far Eastern University at 6 p.m., while Adamson and Perpetual Help tangle at 2 p.m.
Two other quarterfinalists, San Sebastian and National U, will kick off their campaigns this week.
The Lady Eagles and the Tigresses have also been getting a boost from their Thai imports.
“We can rely on her high quick attacks and she is also a massive help on offense,” Ateneo team captain Gretchen Ho said of guest player Phee Nok Kesinee.
Fille Cainglet has also been a major force for the Lady Eagles with a team-best average of 13.5 points.
The Tigressess boast of Thai import Kaensing Utaiwanhas and a veteran core led by Mary Jean Balse, Maika Ortiz and Judy Caballejo.
