AJ Edu, one of Gilas Pilipinas’ frontline cornerstones opened up about his current rehabilitation after suffering his third knee injury in his young basketball career.
The Filipino-Nigerian big man shared several video clips of his rehab in a Facebook post on Saturday, where he said he was “… determined to continue pushing to get back stronger.”
Edu, who is currently enrolled at University of Toledo, a Division I program in the US National Collegiate Athletic Association, tore his left knee ligament last July, according to a local news report.
It was a disappointing hitch to the 21-year-old cager, who was making his way back from a right knee problem he aggravated November last year. He initially suffered a ligament tear during the 2019 Fiba (International Basketball Federation) Under-19 World Cup in Greece, which kept him from playing several games for the Toledo Rockets.
Edu was in high spirits in an Inquirer interview back in June: “I feel like I can jump pretty much the same level, move like the same level.”
A close pal of Kai Sotto, another foundational piece for the Nationals, Edu is turning to his faith to pull him through his recovery.
“I always look back at my favorite verse Jeremiah 29:11: I trust in God’s plan for me so despite the circumstances I face, I’ll keep working towards his perfect plan,” his post read.
