MANILA, Philippines–TNT sustained its form and blasted Blackwater, 96-76, in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup Wednesday at DHVSU Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

The game marked the league’s return from a month-long COVID-19 hiatus.

“Our objective this game was to put together 48 minutes of good basketball and obviously we failed because Blackwater outplayed us in the first 24 minutes,” said TNT head coach Chot Reyes.

“Fortunately, we were able to adjust and our depth showed in the second half.”

The Tropang Giga blew an early double-digit lead before taking control anew in the third quarter where they built their biggest advantage at 26 with three minutes remaining.

TNT had eight players with at least eight points each led by rookie Mikey Williams, who had a game-high 16 points.

The win put TNT in a first-place tie with Magnolia at 4-0.

Roger Pogoy added 13 points while Jayson Castro scored 13 for the Tropang Giga.
