Kalei Mau to join PH volleyball team in AVC tilt in Thailand

MANILA, Philippines—Kalei Mau will join the Philippine national women’s volleyball team that will compete in the 2021 AVC Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Thailand this coming October.

The Filipino-American spiker confirmed the development on her Instagram Stories, saying will first go back home to Hawaii before traveling to Thailand.

“I’m gonna be home for the month and then I’m gonna be training and I’m going to Thailand to join the national team of the Philippines to play in the AVC,” said Mau in her posts. “Let’s go! Sambansa!”

The Philippines is set to play in Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand from October 1 to 7 for the continental tournament.

Mau, who last played for F2 Logistics in the Philippines, recently suited up for Changas de Naranjito in Puerto Rico wherein the team went 12-2 in the preliminaries.

Changas de Naranjito, however, got swept in the semifinals series against San Juaneras de la Capital.

Both the men’s and women’s national teams are in Lipa, Batangas training for the Asian Club Championships.
