3 PBA players test positive for COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines—Three players from Meralco and Barangay Ginebra tested positive for COVID-19 while staying inside the PBA’s Pampanga bubble, a source told the Inquirer.
The Bolts had two of its players yield positive COVID-19 test results while one was from the Gin Kings.
It was remembered that the game between Meralco and Ginebra in the 2021 Philippine Cup, which was initially scheduled for Sunday, was postponed to a latter date.
Article continues after this advertisementThe source said that the Ginebra player was the first to test positive among all the PBA athletes.
The PBA had to stage its games at Don Honorio Ventura State University in Bacolor for the resumption of the All-Filipino Conference after Metro Manila was placed under enhanced community quarantine.
Before the declaration of ECQ, the league played its games at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Article continues after this advertisementPBA Commissioner Willie Marcial previously said that more than 90 percent of the players are already vaccinated.
Marcial, however, kept mum on the circumstance of the players as health issues are protected under the patient confidentiality law.
