Shakey’s V-League: Ateneo handily beats St. La Salle

MANILA, Philippines—Ateneo, flaunting its lethal form, took out University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, in straight sets, 25-16, 25-22, 25-22, Sunday in their quarterfinals match at the 9th Shakey’s V-League First Conference at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Angeline Gervacio came through with 12 points, including the match-point kill to give the Lady Eagles their fourth win against no losses.

Ateneo trailed early in the third set, 10-14, before it made the necessary adjustments on both ends to slowly chip away the deficit.

A running spike by guest player Suzanne Roces put the Lady Eagles ahead, 21-17.

Alyssa Valdez added 10 points, nine of which were power spikes.

Royce Quijano led the Lady Stingers with 13 markers.
