MANILA, Philippines—The record books were rewritten on Friday in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup after LA Tenorio moved up the assists chart while Terrence Romeo staked his name in the shooting department.
Tenorio moved into 10th all-time in the assists leaderboard as he dished out his 3,090th career assist in Barangay Ginebra’s 111-102 loss to San Miguel.
The Gin Kings’ floor general surpassed Olsen Racela in the all-time board with the PBA legend’s career mark at 3,085 assists.
Tenorio officially supplanted Racela when he chalked up his 3,086th assist in the 10:35 mark of the third quarter after he dished out to Scottie Thompson for a three-pointer.
He eventually finished the game with 19 points and 11 assists but those weren’t enough to push the Gin Kings to a win.
Romeo, meanwhile, became the league’s 44th player, and 13th among active ones, to reach 500 career three-pointers.
He reached the milestone in the 1:57 mark of the fourth quarter when he converted on a four-point play that gave the Beermen a 103-97 lead.
Romeo finished the game with 29 points and six assists.
