MANILA, Philippines—Filipino figure skater Edrian Celestino placed 16th in the men’s short program of the 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy, the final Winter Olympics qualifier, Thursday at Eissportzentrum Oberstdorf in Oberstdorf, Germany.

Celestino garnered 64.32 points for his routine.

Despite the low standing, he can still build up enough points in the free skate to take one of the seven Beijing Winter Olympic spots reserved for the men’s individual skaters.

The United States’ Vincent Zhou topped the short program with 97.35 points with France’s Adam Siao Him Fa behind at second with 89.23 points. Australia’s Brendan Kerry placed third with 85.89 points.

The men’s free skate is on Friday at 8:15 pm (Manila time).

Sofia Frank, meanwhile, will also compete in the women’s short program.

Olympic qualifiers will be decided via quota places after the short programs and free skate.

There are a total of 20 Olympic spots up for grabs– seven for men’s singles, six for women’s singles, three in pair skating, and four in ice dance.
