Michael Martinez returns after 3-year hiatus
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino Olympian figure skater Michael Martinez is set for a comeback after a three-year hiatus.
Martinez will make his return in the Finlandia Trophy which takes place from October 7 to 10 in Espoo, Finland, the Philippine Skating Union announced Tuesday.

“The 2021 Finlandia Trophy is the fourth in a series of nine events of the 2021-22 Figure Skating Challenger Series happening this October 7-10, 2021,” the skating federation said.

Article continues after this advertisementThe 24-year-old Martinez hasn’t competed since the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics where he finished 28th.
He was supposed to participate in the CS Nebelhorn Trophy last month but begged off due to an injury.
Frank is fresh from participating in the Nebelhorn Trophy where she placed 24th. The Fil-American also won the bronze medal in the 2021 Colorado Springs Invitational.
Caluza, born in Chula Vista, California to Filipino parents and is also based in the United States, is a silver medalist in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
