MANILA, Philippines—Volleyball official Charo Soriano is set to dabble in local politics after she submitted her certificate of candidacy in the local Commission on Elections office in Tuguegarao City.

Soriano, who took to Twitter on Wednesday, said she seeking a  seat as councilor in her hometown of Tuguegarao.

(It’s during these times that we often hear the question “what’s your contribution to the world?” And I also asked that of myself.)

(That is why today I have submitted my application to be part of your Sangguniang Panglungsod here in our beloved Tuguegarao City to help, be one, hear, and uplift further the lives of my fellow Tuguegaraoeños.)

Her father Jefferson Soriano is the incumbent mayor of Tuguegarao City.

Soriano, a board member in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation, is one of several sports personalities in the Philippines seeking government positions this coming election.

Manny Pacquiao is seeking the presidency while the likes of James Yap, Alvin Patrimonio, Paul Artadi, Ato Agustin, and Don Allado are all running for local positions.
