MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines Football League is looking to kick off its 2021 season on October 27 in a closed-circuit bubble at the National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
Both the PFL and the Philippine Football Federation conducted a series of one-on-one meetings with the participating clubs on October 1 to discuss the conditions for the season.
“PFF is committed to have the PFL 2021 season this year when conditions permit”, said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “We understand how also important the league is for the clubs, sponsors, and football fans.”
The PFL said that the games would be allowed in Carmona under general community quarantine after the municipality was placed under modified enhanced community quarantine until October 15.

Six teams will be competing this season.
Starting the season on October 27 is feasible as the AFF Suzuki Cup will be played from December 1, 2021 to January 1, 2022.
The PFL also encouraged clubs to keep their players in shape ahead of the season while also requiring the teams to provide the league with their proposed accommodation venues for the bubble setup.
“The PFL season 2021 kickoff remains a primary objective,” said PFL commissioner Coco Torre. “The staging of the season will help preserve the livelihood of the players, staff, officials and determine the League Standings based on sporting merit.
United City won the title in the 2020 season that was also played at PFF National Training Center.
