MANILA—Harbour Center owner of Baseball Philippines’ two-time champion Manila Sharks, has reiterated its offer to shoulder the expenses for the formation of the national team to the Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia.
“The offer still stands, we just want to know our involvement in the formation of the team and its training,” said Sharks’ general manager Richard Cruz yesterday.
Cruz said Harbour Centre owner and sports patron Dr. Mikee Romero had agreed to foot the bill for the training of the team, which could be built around the Sharks’ lineup, already heavy as it is with national team players.
“We are ready to shoulder all the expenses for the training, including foreign exposure, and everything else,” said Cruz, who added that he has talked with Philippine Amateur Baseball Association president Hector Navasero regarding the offer.
But Navasero, according to Cruz, simply showed him the training expenses, worth more than P1 million.
“If they want to get involved, then give us the money,” Navasero said in a separate interview. “We will take care of everything because we are the NSA (national sports association).”
While Cruz maintained that they are not out to step into the Paba jurisdiction, he said Navasero still has to spell out the extent of their involvement in the national team.
