MANILA, Philippines—Add proposing to your longtime girlfriend to the list of things Derrick Rose has done on a basketball floor—and at Madison Square Garden no less.

The 2011 MVP popped the question in a private dinner at the Knicks’ home floor and posted a poem dedicated to Alaina Anderson on his Instagram account.

“We are two peas in a pod becuz [because] we are truly misunderstood. We got our heart and swag from this place called Englewood,” wrote Rose.

“I will always love you becuz [because] you go above and beyond. We built a beautiful family and an unbreakable bond. Thank you Queen.”

Anderson, as per TMZ, did not expect Rose to propose on that day as the Knicks point guard only gave her a promise ring the day before the proposal saying “hopefully one day I can get you the real thing.”

Rose, 33, and Anderson, 26, have been together since 2016 and have two children.

The first overall pick of the 2008 Draft is in his second season in his second stint with the Knicks and has helped the franchise reach the 2021 Playoffs averaging 14.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.

Rose spent his first eight years with the Chicago Bulls before he was dealt to New York in 2016.

He then spent a brief spell with the Cleveland Cavaliers before joining the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2018 then the Detroit Pistons in 2019.
