B.League: Hiroshima beats San-en as Thirdy struggles

MANILA, Philippines—Hiroshima sent San-En and Thirdy Ravena below the .500 mark with a  76-67 win in the West Conference of the 2021-22 B.League season Saturday at Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall.

The NeoPhoenix dropped to 2-3 in the standings while the Dragonflies joined Ryukyu at the first seat with 4-1 records.

As of posting time, however, the Golden Kings are playing Kawasaki and could either claim solo first or dip to second in the standings.

The Dragonflies mounted a 27-9 run across the first two quarters to take a 33-18 lead courtesy of Nick Mayo’s step-back three-pointer midway through the second.

San-En managed to trim the lead to three, 36-33, with a 15-3 run at the end of the first half but Hiroshima countered with an 11-4 run to regain the edge midway through the third quarter.

Gregory Echenique led Hiroshima with 17 points and nine rebounds while Thomas Kennedy added 15 points.

Thirdy Ravena struggled to find his shot as he finished with seven points on 3-of-12 shooting.

Elias Harris led the NeoPhoenix with 23 points and seven rebounds.
