V.League: Marck Espejo, FC Tokyo fail to escape vs Suntory

MANILA, Philippines—Marck Espejo fell short in his return to Japan as FC Tokyo lost to defending champion Suntory, 26-24, 25-22, 23-25, 21-25, 15-11, in the 2021-22 Japan V.League season Saturday at Sky Arena.

The Filipino international, who played in Thailand and Bahrain from 2019 to early 2021, finished with 12 points on 10 attacks and two aces as he played his first game back in the Japan V.League.

Espejo’s first foray in Japan was in the 2018-19 season for the Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler, which is now the current team of Bryan Bagunas.

FC Tokyo will play the Sunbirds once more on Sunday.
