Fil-Am Gabi Bade shines in Cyprus women’s basketball league
MANILA, Philippines—A second generation Filipino is establishing herself in the European women’s basketball scene.
Gabi Bade, the daughter of former PBA player Cris Bade, helped steer ENAD to its first win at the expense of Keravnos, 45-38, in the 2021 Cyprus Women’s Basketball Division A Sunday.
The Filipino-American forward scored more than half of her team’s offense as she finished with 28 points and 16 rebounds.
ENAD’s win came after losing to AEL 73-52 wherein Bade had 16 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.
Bade and ENAD will next face winless Zinonas on October 24.
The 5-foot-8 wing is the league’s second-leading scorer at 22 points a game behind Anagennises’ Cassidy Mihalko who’s averaging 33 points.
Bade is the second women’s Gilas player who’s making a name in Europe after center Jack Danielle Animam who’s producing double-doubles for Radnički Kragujevac in the First Women’s Basketball League of Serbia.
