MANILA, Philippines—Jaja Santiago, Bryan Bagunas, and Marck Espejo all dropped their matches in the 2021-22 Japan V.League season on Saturday.

Saitama and Santiago lost their first match of the season losing to defending champion JT Marvelous in the women’s division, 25-21, 28-26, 17-25, 25-23, at Higashiyama Gymnasium.

Lorenne Teixeira had 20 points to lead the Ageo Medics, who dropped to a 2-1 record, while Mami Uchiseto and Yuka Sato had 18 and 16 points, respectively.

Santiago, for her efforts, had nine points.

Oita Miyoshi and Bagunas bowed Wolfdogs Nagoya in four sets, 25-21, 16-25, 25-22, 25-20, in a second straight loss.

Kenta Koga had 23 points to lead the Weisse Adler, who dropped to 1-2, while Bagunas finished with 21 points.

FC Tokyo and Espejo suffered their third straight defeat as they lost to the JTEKT Stings, 25-17, 25-19, 25-19.

Espejo had nine points to lead Tokyo, which dropped to 0-3, while Jonas Kvalen added eight.
