MANILA, Philippines — At just 21 years old, Carlos Yulo is just scratching the surface of his potential.

But this early, Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion has already found his heir apparent.

One doesn’t even have to look far to find the next big thing in Philippine gymnastics with Yulo’s younger brother, Karl Eldrew, being that prospect.

“[Eldrew is] starting already. We’re paying for his schooling, we’re starting to support him, and he’s open for training anytime,” Carrion said Tuesday during the PSA Forum on Tuesday.

Just like Carlos, who trains in Japan under the tutelage of Japanese mentor Munehiro Kugimiya, Eldrew will also go the same path of honing his skills overseas, according to Carrion.

The 13-year-old has shown much promise having won multiple gold medals at Palarong Pambansa.

“Eldrew is our next gold medalist, I hope,” Carrion said.

Carlos, meanwhile, is fresh off another world championship after winning gold in vault and silver in parallel bars during the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.
