Big Chill overwhelms Erase, closes in on outright semis
MANILA, Philippines—Mac Montilla sparked a second-quarter surge by Big Chill to go on and dismantle Erase Plantcenta, 106-69, Thursday to bolster their outright semifinals bid in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Montilla came off the bench and fired 12 of his 15 points in the second period where Big Chill broke loose to turn a three-point game to a 49-29 rout at the intermission.
“The players didn’t do anything wrong in this game,” said Big Chill head coach Robert Sison.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Superchargers, who are now in second-place tie with the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems, padded on to their lead in the second half and led by as much as 44, 104-60, after a Mar Villahermosa four-point play conversion with 2:26 left.
Big Chill, though, still needs to beat a dangerous RnW Pacific Pipes to assure itself of a top two finish.
“We need that game to qualify in the semis. A win against them will put us in the best position,” said Sison.

With the loss, the Erasers moved into a three-way jam at sixth place with Cafe France and Boracay Rum.
