It took a couple of games for Aly Borromeo to regain his scoring touch and rescue Kaya from a defeat that could have doomed its United Football League title hopes.
With his team on the verge of a third loss, Borromeo struck in the closing seconds as Kaya earned a 1-1 draw with leader Global Wednesday night at University of Makati field.
In only his second game back from a seven-month layoff due to a knee injury, the national team skipper rose above everyone else to head home Lexton Moy’s corner kick.
The heart-stopping ending duplicated Loyola Meralco’s win over Kaya last Saturday in which the Sparks grabbed the late equalizer through James Younghusband.
The result meant that Global stayed on top with 35 points, two ahead of Kaya and three of the Loyola Meralco, who have a game in hand.
Midfielder Carli de Murga fired Global ahead in the 31st minute.
