Filipinos suffer losses anew in Japan V.League
MANILA, Philippines—Jaja Santiago, Bryan Bagunas, and Marck Espejo once again suffered defeats in the 2021-22 Japan V.League season Saturday.
Saitama and Santiago suffered an upset loss to PFU, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20, at Komatsu Gymnasium in Ishikawa prefecture.

Yuka Sato and Mami Uchiseto both had 13 points to lead Saitama, the fifth placer in the 2020-21 season and the winner of the 2021 V.Cup.
Melisa Valdes led the Bluecats, who finished ninth the previous year, with 23 points.
Article continues after this advertisementFC Tokyo and Espejo fell to a miserable 0-5 card as they lost to Nagoya in straight sets, 25-15, 25-23, 29-27, at Toyoda Gosei Memorial Gymnasium.
Espejo played just two sets in the match and was limited to just two points with Jonas Kvalen and Yuma Nagatomo leading the team with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Bartosz Kurek led the Wolfdogs with 25 points.
Oita Miyoshi and Bagunas couldn’t bank on their first set win and succumbed to the Toray Arrow, 24-26, 25-21, 25-16, 25-21, at Miyazaki Prefectural Gymnasium.
Bagunas had 18 points while Emerson Rodriguez led the Weisse Adler with 19 points but those weren’t enough as they slipped to 1-4 after four straight losses.
Christian Padal had 28 points to lead the Arrows.
