Creamline came away with a clean sweep of Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR) on Tour’s Sta. Ana tournaments last Sunday.
Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons, who played under Creamline 1, ruled the women’s division after their 21-13, 21-11 victory over Creamline 2’s Dij Rodriguez and Dzi Gervacio.
Creamline 1’s Krung Arbasto and Jude Garcia won the men’s division title, sweeping Tuguegarao’s James Pecaña and AJ Pareja, 21-17, 21-16, in the championship round.
The dominant showing of Creamline was less impressive than the accomplishments chalked up by its stars.
Rondina and Pons went on a perfect 13-0 in the two Sta. Ana legs and have won 19 straight starting in the 2019 Lianga leg where the partners emerged as champions.
It was the fifth BVR crown for Rondina while Pons collected her third.
“I’m really grateful because we had another opportunity to play,” Pons, who didn’t play the whole 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, said in Filipino. “We’re still focused on our goal moving forward.”
The BVR Sta. Ana leg served as a tune-up tournament for Rondina, Pons, Arbasto and Garcia for the Asian Volleyball Confederation Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championship in Thailand in November and also the Hanoi Southeast Asian Games in 2022.
Arbasto tallied his seventh championship while Garcia captured his second as the pair went 14-0 in Sta. Ana. INQ
