The Portland Trail Blazers are investigating president of basketball operations and general manager Neil Olshey for alleged workplace misconduct, The Athletic reported.
The team confirmed Saturday it has hired an outside firm to investigate a workplace matter, but the official statement did not specifically identify Olshey or provide the exact nature of the allegations.
“The Portland Trail Blazers organization was recently notified of concerns around workplace environment by non-player personnel at the practice facility. In response, we immediately engaged O’Melveny & Myers, an outside firm with significant expertise in this area, to conduct a full, fair and independent review into these concerns and will take appropriate action based on its outcome,” read the team statement.
“While we cannot comment on this pending matter, we are committed to continuing to build an organization that positively impacts our colleagues, communities and the world in which we live and play.”
Olshey did not respond to text messages from The Athletic requesting comment, while team owner Jody Allen declined to comment. Both attended Friday night’s 110-106 victory against the Indiana Pacers.
Olshey, 56, has been the GM since 2012. He added the title of president of basketball operations in 2015. He previously worked for the Los Angeles Clippers’ front office from 2003-12.
