MANILA, Philippines—Reymart Gaballo has lingered as in interim for some time now but his manager JC Manangquil is confident the knockout artist is due for the big time fights.

In an interview with PlayItRight.TV, Manangquil said that Gaballo’s youth will ultimately prove too much in the pugilist’s fight against Nonito Donaire for the WBC bantamweight championship.

“This is Reymart’s time, a hundred percent, he’s worked hard for so many years and I’ve seen him train him day in and day out with such discipline,” said Manangquil in Filipino.

Gaballo, the interim WBC bantamweight champion, is the mandatory challenger to Donaire and the two Filipinos will slug it out on December 11 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

“December 11 would be his time, all of his hard work will be shown on that night,” said Manangquil.

The fight will be Gaballo’s first fight in nearly a year following his last one against Emmanuel Rodriguez where he captured the WBC interim title via split decision on Dec. 19, 2020.

Gaballo, who is undefeated in 24 fights with 20 knockouts, was also a former WBA interim bantamweight champion after he beat Stephon Young via unanimous decision in March 2018 in Hollywood, California.

Despite his interim title wins, Gaballo has yet to become a full champion.

Donaire (41-6, 27 KOs), on the other hand, is a five-division World champion having won titles from flyweight to featherweight.

Gaballo’s resume is already noteworthy, but it still pales in comparison to that of the Hall-of-Fame- worthy record of Donaire’s.

Nevertheless, the underdog Gaballo is unfazed in facing a legend.

“Once I step inside the ring then I’ll do everything I can,” said Gaballo in Filipino. “In every fight I’ve been in, I always do my best. I’m underdog, but I don’t see any problem in it.”
