MANILA, Philippines—FC Tokyo’s winning run came to an end after falling to Hiroshima, 27-25, 25-15, 26-28, 25-20, in the 2021-22 Japan V.League season Friday at Sumida Ward General Gymnasium in Tokyo.
Marck Espejo and FC Tokyo were riding two consecutive wins over Oita Miysoshi before the match but the JT Thunders proved too much for them as they got outscored 63-51 in kills.
Edgar Thomas poured in 31 points, all of which were attacking attempts, to lead Hiroshima while Junya Sakashita added 12 points.
Jonas Kvalen led FC Tokyo with 19 points while Espejo and Yuma Nagatomo added 13 points apiece.
FC Tokyo slipped to a 2-7 record while the JT Thunders moved up to 3-6.
The two teams will once again meet each other on Saturday at the same venue.
