MANILA, Philippines—Paeng Nepomuceno, Efren “Bata” Reyes, and Eugene Torre became the latest Filipino sporting legends to be featured in the Philippine Postal Corporation’s stamp collections.
Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson was also included in the Living Legends: World–Renowned Series stamp collection.
“Being a world renowned Filipino is both an honor and privilege, we know it’s not easy because it’s a great responsibility to carry our flag wherever they go,” said PHLPost Postmaster General Norman Fulgencio during the collection’s launch Saturday.
Nepomuceno, arguably the greatest bowler of all time, is a five-time Bowling World Cup champion while Reyes has twice won the World Cup of Pool and once the US Open, 9-Ball Championships, and WPA World 8-Ball Championships among other tournaments.
Torre, meanwhile, is Asia’s first Grandmaster and was the 1969 World Junior Chess Champion.
While Reyes, Nepomuceno, Torre, and Clarkson are part of a bigger Legends collection, PBA icon Robert Jaworski was immortalized in a series of his own.
The Robert Jaworski: Living Legend Series was launched on October 16.
Other figures and personalities included in the Living Legends: World Renowned Series collection are Broadway singer Lea Salonga, entrepreneur Dado Banatao, fashion designer Monique Lhuillier, garment designer Josie Natori, industrial designer Kenneth Kobonpue, and fast-food giant Jollibee of Jollibee Foods Corporation.
