MANILA, Philippines—Jamie Lim failed in her podium bid after she lost to the Netherlands’ Lynn Snell via majority decision in the women’s -61 kilogram repechage of the 2021 World Karate Federation Senior Championships Thursday in Dubai.

The repechage was the last chance for Lim to get into medal contention after she lost to Ukrainian Anita Serogina, 2-1, in the third fourth of her World Championship debut.

The 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist had a strong start in the Dubai as she took down Alana Kochieva of the Russian Karate Federation, 4-2, in the opening round.

Lim then scored decision wins over France’s Laura Sivert and Japan’s Shimada Sarara in the second and third rounds, respectively.

Filipino-Japanese Junna Tsukii suffered an earlier exit than Lim in the competition when she was eliminated in the second round losing to Bakhriniso Babaeva of Uzbekistan, 3-2, in the female -50kg.

Tsukii opened her campaign with a decision win over Sara Radicevska of North Macedonia.
