WBC lauds GAB: ‘trailblazing, ahead of game’

The World Boxing Council (WBC) lauded the trailblazing efforts of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), naming the professional sports agency headed by chair Abraham Kahlil “Baham’’ Mitra the Commission of the Year in the just-concluded 59th WBC Convention in Mexico City.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman lauded the work of the GAB, which defied the odds brought about by the global health crisis to keep Philippine boxing and pro sports in the country going.

The GAB’s initiatives, highlighted by the presence of portable infrared CT scan machines on standby for boxers during fight cards, made an impact with the WBC.

Sulaiman said the GAB’s initiative to acquire brain scanners is a trailblazing act ahead of everyone in pro boxing.

The GAB was also praised by WBC and California State Athletic Commission medical head Paul Wallace, who said the Philippines is “ahead of the game’’ among the 161 participating countries.
