KAYA edged Nomads Auction Manila, 2-1, last night to climb back to the top of the United Football League at the University of Makati field.

Goals from Alu Kigbu and Joshua Beloya in each half secured the maximum points for Kaya, which also needed a solid performance from substitute goalkeeper Russel Pierson.

Kaya’s early dominance paid off when Kigbu scored from close range in the 40th minute, before Beloya’s volley 10 minutes into the second half doubled the advantage.

The win lifted Kaya a point clear of Global, which still has a game in hand, and four ahead of Loyola Meralco.

FEATURED STORIES

Earlier, Army Fritz and Macziol ended an eight-game winless slide with a 3-2 victory over Navy Red Juice.

Nestorio Margarse found the back of the net and assisted on the first goal, before Meliton Pelayo capped the scoring for Army in the 52nd minute.

Still, Navy gave Army a scare, nailing two goals through Arnold Carino and Peter Fadrigalan in the second half, even as Army wasted at least five glorious chances to seal the win earlier.
