MANILA, Philippines—Filipino-Japanese karateka Junna Tsukii is back in the Philippines to prepare for the coming 2021 Asian Karate Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Tsukii, who won a gold medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, left Japan in September to compete in two tournaments in Europe before flying to the Philippines.

“I’m finally back in the Philippines! Now I’m preparing with my team for the upcoming Asian Championship,” posted Tsukii.

“Good to see you all again.”

Tsukii, who competes in the 50 kg women’s kumite, has yet to win a title in the continental level and the nearest she achieved was a bronze in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 30-year-old also grabbed two bronze medals in the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for 50 kg Kumite and Team Kumite.
