MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines bounced back in an emphatic way as it trampled Timor Leste, 7-0, for its first win in Group A of the 2020 AFF Suzuki Cup Saturday at Singapore National Stadium.
The Azkals collected three first points for a 1-1-0 (win-loss-draw) record to take the second seed in the group behind Singapore, which has a perfect 2-0-0 card for six points.
Martin Steuble started the festivities for the Philippines as he slotted home a screamer off of Angel Guirado’s assist in the 21st minute.
Amin Nazari and Guirado then put the Azkals up 3-0 as they scored in a span of four minutes in the 31st and 35th.
Patrick Reichelt then followed up Guirado’s goal just five minutes after in the 40th for the Philippines’ 4-0 lead.
Jesper Nyholm and Bienve Marañon then scored two more in as many minutes just before the half time.

The center-back calmly stuck Kevin Ingreso’s corner for the 5-0 lead at the 45th minute before Marañon scored his first in a Philippine shirt during stoppage time, 45+1, blasting past Aderito Fernandes for the 6-0 advantage
Ingreso joined the party in the 78th minute as he found the back of the net off of Yrick Gallantes headed pass.
Timor Leste sit at the bottom of the group with a 0-3-0 record and have now conceded 11 goals without scoring one.
