MANILA, Philippines—NLEX continued its perfect run after dumping Terrafirma, 116-86, in the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup Saturday at Araneta Coliseum.

Behind KJ McDaniels, the Road Warriors pulled away in the second half en route to their fourth straight win.

McDaniels posted a double-double with 34 points and 13 rebounds that went with four assists, three steals and three blocks.

“We’re happy with our start. I’m a little bit cautious. I don’t think the other teams are as ready as we all should be,” said NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao.

“We’re just trying to get better at this point. That’s the mentality,” he added. “We don’t want to be overconfident.”

Kevin Alas added 20 points off the bench for NLEX, which started the conference at 4-0 for the first time since the 2017 Governors’ Cup.

After hanging tough against NLEX in the first half, Terrafirma had a difficult time in the third quarter especially when it lost its star guard Alex Cabagnot due to an Achilles injury.

Cabagnot sustained the injury late in the third period. He finished with five points, four rebounds and five assists in 21 minutes

Antonio Hester had 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Dyip, who have lost three of their first four games.
