Bishop scores 36, Meralco holds on to top TNT

MANILA, Philippines — Tony Bishop fired a game-high 36 points to push Meralco past TNT, 83-80, in the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup Wednesday night at Araneta Coliseum.

Bishop scored 10 points in the fourth quarter alone to help hold off the Tropang Giga late.

He also hauled down 17 rebounds, including a crucial offensive board that led to a free throw by Chris Newsome with only nine ticks left.

Newsome added 15 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Bolts, who improved to 2-0.

Tropang Giga had the chance to force overtime but Kelly Williams missed the potential game-tying triple as time ran out.

Mikey Williams paced TNT, which fell to 1-2, with 24 points.
