MANILA, Philippines – San Sebastian made its entry to the semifinals official with a 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-21 victory over National University at the 9th Shakey’s V-League First Conference Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Stags, bucking a slow start, completed the final four cast along with powerhouses University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo, and semifinals first-timer Perpetual Help.
San Sebastian, led by Jeng Bualee anew, cleaned up its act after a messy ending to the first set and became consistent in smahsing building momentum from NU to clinch the succeeding sets.
A 5-1 run late in the final set gave the Lady Stags their final lead en route to the win after trailing 15-17 midway, making it a 4-2 record in the quarterfinals.
Bualee came up with another workhorse effort with 33 points, while just three others from the San Sebastian side pitched in in scoring.
The Lady Bulldogs exited the competition with a 1-5 record in the playoffs with Din-din Santiago scoring 18 points on the losing end.
