UST breezes past Perpetual Help in Shakey’s V-League

MANILA, Philippines – University of Santo Tomas coasted to another semifinals-bound squad Perpetual Help, 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 , Tuesday in the 9th Shakey’s V-League First Conference at the Arena in San Juan.

A balanced scoring highlighted the Tigresses’ straight set victory but it was more on its solid net difference which made the difference.

“We lessened our error in our blocking coverage,” said Odjie Mamon. “And we had more variaton in attacking unlike Perpetual Help.

Guest players Utaiwan Kaensing and Mary Jane Balse, along with veteran Judy Caballejo scattered 12 points apeice while Maica Ortiz added 10.

The Lady Altas and the Tigresses could face each other in the semifinals, depending on the results at the close of the playoffs on Thursday.

UST remains lodged at second with a 5-1 record while Perpetual Help tied with San Sebastian with a 4-2 card.

Powerspiking guest player Kunbang Pornpimol was the lone Lady Altas who did all the scoring as she finished with 16 points.
