MANILA, Philippines—Filipino pugilist Vic Saludar suffered double losses in his fight against young fighter Erick Rosa in the Dominican Republic on December 21.

Saludar not only lost his WBA World minimumweight title to the 21-year-old Rosa via split decision, he was also paid $13,000—way below the promised $35,000 purse.

Abraham “Baham” Mitra, the Games and Amusements Board president, thus went into communication with the WBA to ask about Saludar’s payment.

Mitra added that GAB is already considering not allowing Filipino boxers to fight under the WBA.

“We at GAB sent an email to the WBA supervisor and awaiting for his response. We are considering not allowing Filipinos to fight under WBA unless this is acted upon,” said Mitra.

The government official added that Belgica Pena promoted the fight for Shaun Boxing Promotion and a certain Bebot Elorde served as the matchmaker.

Octavio Rodriguez also served as the WBA supervisor for the fight.

The loss was Saludar’s fifth in his professional career as he dropped to 21-5 while Rosa improved to a perfect 5-0 card.
