MANILA, Philippines—Garvo Lanete has retired from the PBA at the age of 32.

The NorthPort shooting guard spent six years in the league and is headed to the United States in the mean time, head coach Pido Jarencio confirmed Wednesday.

“Yes, he’s retired,” said Jarencio in Filipino.

Lanete has been with the Batang Pier since 2019 and averaged 4.9 points across 10 games in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup, where the team finished with a 6-5 record at the fifth seed.

Despite being included into the NorthPort lineup in the Governors’ Cup, Lanete had to settle for minor roles as injuries affected his performance and minutes.

A four-time NCAA champion with San Beda, Lanete was drafted sixth overall in the 2015 draft and went on to play with NLEX for two years.

He eventually got dealt to Meralco where he spent another two years.
