Gorres undergoes major surgery

11:17 AM September 02, 2010

ILL-FATED BOXER Z “The Dream” Gorres went under the knife at the Cebu Doctors Hospital Wednesday to correct a portion of his windpipe that was infected allegedly due to improper handling at the Las Vegas University Medical Center, where Gorres underwent emergency brain surgery in November last year.   A three-man team made up of Dr. Lito Almendras, Dr. Arnold Tan and Dr. Gary Rivera carried out the six-hour operation which Almendras described “as a big surgery.”   Almendras said “everything went well” during the surgery.   He said the surgery done in Las Vegas “was not done properly. That is why he (Gorres) ended up with a narrow windpipe which developed scarring in that area.”   Gorres had to undergo surgery after he found difficulty in breathing and eating.   Gorres collapsed and fell into a coma after scoring a smashing win  over Luis Melendez of Colombia in Las Vegas last year.
