MANILA, Philippines–Tokyo Olympic gold-medal winning weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz has tested positive for COVID-19.

In an Instagram Story on Wednesday, Diaz revealed that she too has fallen ill with the virus amid the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases in the country since the turn of the year.

“Kahit po ako nagpositive na po. Ingat po tayong lahat. Magpalakas at sundin lahat ng health protocols,” she captioned her post along with a screenshot of the COVID-19 test result.

(I’ve tested positive too. Let’s all take care. Let’s strengthen [our health] and follow all health protocols.)

The 30-year-old Diaz acquired her COVID-19 booster shot on January 4 in Quezon City. She encouraged everyone to get vaccinated and boosted.

The country’s first gold medalist in the Summer Games recently declared her intention of going for her fifth Olympic stint in Paris 2024.
