MANILA, Philippines—Undefeated Filipino boxer Jade Bornea scored the biggest win of his career when he stopped Mohammed Obbadi in the third round of their IBF super flyweight title eliminator bout Saturday at Auditorio Jacales in Monterrey, Mexico.

Bornea landed a stiff right cross square on Obbadi’s jaw to stun the Moroccan fighter before connecting with a crushing left hook to the liver to end the bout.

Obbadi, who got down to the canvas on all fours, took the full count 1:25 into the third.

In just his second fight outside the Philippines, Bornea catapulted into the no.1 ranking in the IBF’s super flyweight and could get a title shot against champion Jerwin Ancajas.

The 26-year-old from General Santos City, who just recently signed with promotional company Probellum, upped his perfect record to 17-0 including 11 knockouts.

Obbadi, who now resides in Italy, saw his nine-fight winning streak get snapped as he slipped to 22-2.
