MANILA, Philippines—Filipino auto racer Iñigo Anton is set to compete in the 2022 Le Mans Virtual against some of the industry’s best drivers including 2021 Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.
Anton, a former Philippine Autocross Champion, is part of Axle Sports and will race from Saturday (Manila time) until Sunday.
Also competing in the virtual race are former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya, Formula E star Oliver Rowland, IndyCar’s Felix Rosenqvist, and 2021 European Le Mans Series champion Louis Deletraz.
Deletraz is also the winner of the 2020 virtual race.
Anton, the only Filipino racer in the Le Mans Virtual, recently led the Philippines to the silver in the Southeast Asia E-racing tournament.
Verstappen won his first Drivers’ Championship in the 2021 F1 season ending Lewis Hamilton’s four-year reign for Mercedes.
