University of the East, Letran and Perpetual Help seek to follow up impressive victories when they clash against separate rivals today in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Warriors, who stunned the La Salle Archers, 67-65, in their last outing, collide with University of Santo Tomas at 3:30 p.m. Letran seeks a fourth win against Mapua in a 12 noon clash, before the Altas tangle with the Archers.
The Knights are favored against a Mapua squad that has struggled to find its form in the preseason. Still, Letran coach Louie Alas is looking for consistency from his squad.
“Our target is the quarterfinals,” said Alas. “But we still have to remain consistent.”
Letran will miss brothers Kevin and Jun Alas, who are still sidelined by foot and knee injuries, respectively. The Alas brothers missed the Knights’ last two games.
The Archers, holding a 3-2 record, are hoping to end their offensive woes against the Altas, after sputtering against the Warriors. “We have a long way to go,” said La Salle coach Gee Abanilla. “We have to spread out our offense.”
