The Filipino female booters have impressed so far after two matches where they stunned Thailand in the opener on Thursday and made a good account of themselves in a respectable loss to heavyweight Australia on Monday.
“Thank you very much for bringing pride and honor to our country. Ngayon pa lang, proud na proud na kami sa inyo! Kasama ninyo ako at ang buong bansa na nagchee-cheer sa inyo sa laban na ito at sa mga susunod pa,” Robredo said.
(We’re already very proud of you all. I’m with the rest of the country in cheering for you in this fight and in the future.)
“Again, good luck at mag-iingat kayo diyan (and take care). Laban, Pilipinas (Fight, Philippines). Mabuhay ang atletang Pilipino (Long live the Filipino athlete).”
The Philippines shoots for a spot in the knockout stage against Indonesia on Thursday.
