JENG Bualee fueled San Sebastian’s late charge as the Lady Stags outlasted the Perpetual Help Lady Altas, 25-14, 25-18, 12-25, 16-25, 15-11, Thursday night to clinch the No. 3 seed in the Shakey’s V-League First Conference semifinals at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Showing tremendous workrate, the veteran Thai import piled up a tournament-high 35 points to send the Lady Stags into a semifinal duel with University of Santo Tomas.
The multititled Tigresses, who prevailed over the Lady Stags in the elimination-round, ended up as the No. 2 seed after breezing past National U last Thursday.
The loss sent the Lady Altas—a first-time semifinalist—to what is seen as a tougher duel against unbeaten Ateneo in the other semifinal pairing.
The semifinals, which starts tomorrow, will be best-of-three affairs.
The Lady Stags nearly wasted a two-set lead, before recovering their fiery form.
