MANILA, Philippines—Bryan Bagunas and Oita Miyoshi stunned Nagoya in a grueling five-setter, 18-25, 23-25, 30-28, 26-24, 15-13, in the Japan V.League Division I men’s tournament Saturday at Cycle Shop Kodama Osu Arena.

Bagunas fueled the fightback with 23 points as the Weisse Adler picked up a much-needed win.

It was an efficient outing for the Filipino import, who converted 20 attacks off 39 attempts.

Bagunas’ efforts helped Oita Miyoshi withstand a 40-point explosion by Nagoya’s polish reinforcement Bartosz Kurek.

The Weiss Adler snapped their three-game skid to win just for the fifth time in 21 games.

The fifth-running Wolfdogs, who came into the game having won three of their last four, dropped to 10-7.

Oita Miyoshi and Nagoya meet again on Sunday.

Meanwhile, FC Tokyo continued its slide despite the return of Marck Espejo, who had missed his team’s last three games.

FC Tokyo (6-15) suffered its third consecutive defeat after getting swept by the JTEKT Stings, 25-17, 25-12, 25-19.
