MANILA, Philippines–Juan Gomez de Liano is returning to Gilas Pilipinas.

The promising guard teased his national team comeback on Tuesday on social media.

Gomez de Liaño will be a welcome addition to Gilas especially after several of its players in the pool in Isaac Go, Matt and Mike Nieto, Rey Suerte and Allyn Bulanadi reportedly opted not to remain with the program.

The Philippines’ campaign in the 2023 Fiba World Cup Asian qualifiers begins on February 24 against longtime rival South Korea.

The window, which takes place at Araneta Coliseum, runs until February 28. New Zealand and India complete Group A.

Chot Reyes will call the shots for Gilas after replacing Tab Baldwin. The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announced the coaching change on Monday.

The 22-year-old Gomez de Liano was part of Reyes’ 23-for-23 pool three years ago.

Gomez De Liano last played for Earthfriends Tokyo Z in the Japan B.League second division.
