MANILA, Philippines—Things are looking up for Terrafirma’s Roider Cabrera, who is recovering quicker than expected after he collapsed following a game in the PBA 3×3 tournament in November.

Cabrera’s younger sister, Rachaleen, said the forward was discharged from the hospital on January 9 and started speaking on Wednesday.

“My brother’s been recovering quickly since we left the hospital and the progress he’s been showing is really great,” said Rachaleen in Filipino on Wednesday.

“He’s speaking bit by bit right now and he’s also slowly starting to move his body.”

Cabrera remains in machine-assisted respiration but the trach tube will be removed once he begins breathing on his own.

The 6-foot-4 Cabrera was rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Medical City and was in a vegetative state after he collapsed inside the Ynares Sports Arena locker room on November 24, 2021.

The former Adamson star is now making his recovery at home with his family.

“Even the nurses are surprised with his recovery because my brother’s improvement is really quick,” said Rachaleen
