MANILA, Philippines – Ronald Pascual is still recuperating from his ACL injury while Calvin Abueva sprained his ankle early.

Luckily for San Sebastian, Ian Sangalang got going and didn’t let up as the Stags sweated out a 90-80 win over Arellano Saturday in the 2012 FilOil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup at the Arena in San Juan.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to see how the players play without Calvin. It gives other players the opportunity to shine,” said SSC head coach Topex Robinson, who also drew a decent game from point guard Lyle Antipuesto.

Sangalang obliterated the Chiefs interior defense with 32 points to go along with 11 rebounds and two blocks to power San Sebastian to its fifth game winning streak.

Abueva injured his right ankle in the opening minutes of the second period and did not return.

Arellano put up a gallant stand as it kept within striking distance the majority of the game.

Rocky Acidre hit a three that moved the Chiefs to within three, 67-70, with 6:20 left.

The Stags though countered with a 12-2 blitz capped by a Sangalang basket that brought their lead back to double-digits, 82-69, with 3:08 remaining.

Antipuesto added 15 points on six-of-eight shooting from the field.

Nard Pinto had 19 points and eight rebounds to lead Arellano while Acidre wound up with 15 markers.
